Kasablanca is an ftp client, written in c++, using the kde libraries. among its features are currently encryption (auth tls) support, fxp, site bookmarks, and queued transfers.

2009-02-09 i played a bit around with the qt svg support and created a new progress indicator (check screenshots).

2009-02-07 the kde4 version of kasablanca will be based on python gui-wise and on a c++ kio-slave for the ftp(s) logic. this way other kde applications can use the ftps functionality too, while pykde is nice for rapid gui development. the kio-slave is quite finished yet and after a bit of tinkering the interaction between python gui and kio-slave seems to work. if anyone is interested in participating, please contact me. i myself have few sparetime available to spend on kasablanca right now. as the c++ backend can be used right now and the gui coding in python not requiring any advanced coding skills, the hurdles should not be high at all. in the svn repository (see project page) there is the kio-slave and a simple prototype kasablanca-python, which browses ftp(s) servers using the kio-slave.

2008-02-18 the kio-ftps slave has been ported to kde4 architecture.

2006-03-20 i added an overwrite-all option to cvs and reworked the homepage a bit.

2006-02-17 i wrote an ftps KIO slave for kde, so you can do encrypted ftp sessions in konqueror, krusade and lots of other kde applications. i set up a page for it here. in other news, there's a quite handy much requested compare feature in kasablanca cvs now, in case you missed that. kasablanca development will be taken up again when i have the first kde4 (some beta i guess) installed, the kasablanca code can be improved a lot when using qt4 threads, and i don't want to put effort into the qt3-based code, when most of it will have to be rewritten for kde4 anyway.

2005-05-05 the ftp functionality of Kasablanca is based on ftplib++. to make it possible for other gpl projects to use this functionality, i created a distribution apart from Kasablanca cvs and set up a webpage for it, which you can find here.

2005-02-16 added a contributed debian build to the downloadpage.

2005-02-01 added two user provided packages to the downloadpage.

2005-01-31 after a while another update to the 0.4 branch is released. it contains several small improvements and gets rid of some rather annoying bugs (eg. large file support). a big thank you goes out to tristan k. who expressed his gratitude by donating money via paypal.

2004-08-18 the first update to version 0.4 is released. it's mainly bugfixes and some handy improvements. get 0.4.0.1 from the download page.

2004-07-13 version 0.4 is released. there are a lot of improvements over the old version. people who want to translate kasablanca can send their translations, since the interface can be considered stable now.

2004-07-06 version 0.4-pre3 is released.

2004-06-17 version 0.4-pre2 is out. the changelog is quite big this time.

2004-06-13 version 0.4-pre1 only compiled on system with qt 3.3 installed. this issue is fixed in 0.4-pre1b.

2004-06-12 a preview of the upcoming 0.4 version was released. kde 3.2 is required now (we intended to keep kde 3.1 compatibility for the 0.4 series, but in the end the effort was too big).

2004-05-24 a user contributed a debian binary package of v0.3.1. It's on the download page.

2004-04-15 the kasablanca development team is pleased to announce version 0.3.1. this version finalize the long awaited FXP support aswell as a bunch of bugfixes and some gui updates.we encourage people that's using earlier versions to upgrade to the latest version.
